Archimuse

An old stacking warehouse in the Garibaldi Isola area of Milan has been fully renovated to become a professional studio by connecting the warehouse to the basement floor through the formation of a staircase with stone steps embedded in the masonry and individually supported by iron hoops and steel tie rods hanging from the vault.

On the upper floor, the entire deteriorated plaster was removed and the exposed brick walls were preserved, and traces were made in the floor in old black, red and beige hexagonal cement tiles for the passage of installations. To cover the floor excavation, a red coco runner was placed, the color of which was also used as the dominant tone in the recovery of the wooden ceiling with planking and beams (stitched up with planking at a connection compartment of a removed staircase), and reinforced with new iron girders glazed gray for a final chromatic effect that eludes metamerism.

The floor below was reclaimed by consolidating the structures by means of an underfloor concrete scarp on which accommodation was created for the laying of fixtures and in which a number of spotlights were inserted for decorative lighting. The basement was also equipped with a bathroom with a lift pump and a light sink.
