Art Gallery - Brescia
A barrel-vaulted cellar connected with an office on the ground floor was converted into an art gallery and wine bar. In the basement, work was carried out to insulate from the foundation slab of a building through the construction of an aerated crawl space, an air chamber, or otherwise an insulating compartment made by igloo, in order to improve the conditions of the living environment so that it is not tapped by fumes, efflorescence or other contamination.
The structural solid brick walls were rehabilitated with transparent consolidating fixatives after re-staining the joints and illuminated by walkable spotlights with a wall washer effect.
Long electric rails were suspended from the vault by almost invisible footings to allow the lights to slide to the most suitable positions for the works, which are individually illuminated with a “bell” lighting effect that avoids annoying reflections on the images.
Upstairs, a sidereal aspect of the cocktail bar uses the space between stone columns to create a scenic backdrop among the works on display.
